“...automated decoration, scatter proofing
and preflighting of postscript and pdf files”
SWiNG proofer workflow is a collection of pre-defined tools, each tool
executes specific actions on incoming files and
then moves them to the following tool in the workflow. In most cases,
the tools settings will be setup by a workflow administrator through the
Editor module, although settings can also be modified by authorised operators
on desktop systems. This facility allows editing of settings to adapt
them to custom output file requirements without changing the original
workflow.
Features
- pre-flight checking of Postscript, PDF and Tiff IT/P1
files
- addition of decorations such as ticks, colour bars,
etc.
- scatter of digital files for proof paper saving
- generation of high-quality digital files:-
- PostScript level 1, 2 or 3
- print to PostScript compatible printer
- distribution and/or compression of resulting digital
files to archive and/or additional workflow

input files
At the beginning of the workflow, this tool tells SWiG proofer how to
deal with incoming files. The input files tool gives control over file
naming where special characters can be substituted to avoid unrecognised
character problems, or dependent on file name, the workflow to be used
and final transmit destination.
tiff-it/p1
This tool has the ability to import TIFF-IT/P1 format. Settings within
the TIFF-IT/P1 allow partial or complete file input where ct, lw and flyt
file can be referenced to include/exclude data.
ps/pdf check
A preflight checking process where input files are interrogated for errors.
SWiNG’s ps/pdf check settings cover all
common input file errors such as low resolution images, missing OPI links,
incorrect colour space, missing fonts
etc., whilst also allowing automated correction or manual intervention.
Any errors not specified to be automatically corrected are held for validation.
Unlike standard preflight tools, SWiNG’s ps/pdf check interrogates
files in the way a RIP would process them, so if it passes ps/pdf check,
it images.
decorate
Automatically add margins, cut marks, colour bars, separation names, text,
date/time stamp and corporate logo to incoming CT’s, LW or pages.
Each decoration item has fully editable parameters for an unlimited number
of decoration sets, delivering consistent control over your proofing process.
scatter
The scatter tool automatically creates a “many-up” proofing
page, minimising the waste of paper. Specify the proof
page size and acceptable rate of waste allowed, and scatter handles the
rest.
output
When it comes to digital artwork production DALiM’s p2 technology
delivers true openness to industry standard formats, automatically ensuring
faster, error-free output for “right-first-time” production.
From level 1 RIPs through to the latest developments, SWiNG has the tools
to communicate in the past, present and future, protecting your investment.
Many aspects of an output file can be specified including: image resolution,
vignette type, conversion of text to curves, the level of PostScript,
whether a file should be composite or separated, how to deal with trapping
and more.
output ps device
Not only can you print files to a PostScript compatible proofing device,
but you can also generate a true facsimile to any PostScript compatible
output device utilising SWiNG’s “PPD-Driven Workflow”
system to ensure print predictable results.
transmit
When the output process has finished the transmit tool takes over, ready
to take your files to their next stage.
Automatically compress, rename, archive locally, ftp upload to a remote
site or even move to another SWiNG workflow.
